Fateh Sagar Lake – A Peaceful Respite with Birds and Water

The trip to Jag Niwas had been a wonderful experience. Udaipur has so many wonders of architecture built that it is impossible to say what was the best among them is. My stay at Udaipur was coming to an end so I decided to visit few more places before I fly back to my normal daily mechanical life again.

I visited the Fateh Sagar Lake next. Fateh Sagar Lake is yet another lake in the city of Udaipur; it lies beside the Moti Magri Hill. It was built by Maharana Jai Singh in the year 1678. The dimensions of the lake are about 2.5 kms long and 1.5 kms in width with a depth of 12 metres.

The Lake is decorated with 3 islands which I visited by taking a boat ride. Nehru Park is the largest island of the lake. There is a small restaurant in the park which is in a shape of a boat. The island also houses a small zoo for children. This is the reason why Nehru Park Island is the favourite spot for picnic in the city of Udaipur. The second island is also converted into a public park with water fountains installed in it.

The third island serves as a solar station and due to its location it is regarded as the best solar observatory in Asia. The trip to Udaipur had been great but there was some fatigue due to extensive travelling to visit all major historical sites in a short span of time. Fateh Sagar Lake served as a good place for some much needed relaxation in the midst of the serene water of the lake.

I hired a motor boat from the bottom of the Moti Magri Hill and enjoyed good trip around the length and breadth of the lake. It was a pleasant experience and an exercise for the soul. The scenic beauty of the lake enthralled me, especially the the way it was encircled by the Aravallis. The trip to Fateh Sagar lake was much needed and I suggest everyone on a trip to Udaipur to go for a Boat ride in the lake to enjoy its tranquil beauty.

With all the major destinations of the city visited by me I was headed for my final destination, Ranakpur Jain Temple, to conclude my amazing and adventurous trip of Udaipur.
