My Splendid Experience at Sayaji Baug Vadodara

Spread over an area of 113 acres, the Sayaji Baug Vadodara is a home to a wide range of flora, Vadodara museum and picture gallery and an excellent zoo. It was my second trip here just to visit the park itself this time. Situated on the banks of River Vishwamitri, it was built by Sayaji Rao third in 1879. It also had in close proximity the Sardar Patel Planetarium, which gave educational tours to children along with three educational movie shows every day.

I was amazed by the beauty of the park. I was informed the park beholds more than 98 species of trees. I moved further just to see well-maintained lawns, beautifully carved sculptures placed on pedestals and many other impeccable works of art that one cannot lay their eyes off. The most fun part of my little tour was riding the toy train which was built for the children right around the Mango orchard in the lawn itself. It was an immense pleasure to spend my whole evening amidst beautiful the fountains and trees. The place is really worthwhile to visit. The museum and picture gallery preserves some greatest and mightiest works of art, the Sardar Patel planetarium provides an educational tour for the young and curious minds and on the top of it, Zoo, having a total 167 kinds of 1103 animals of different shapes and sizes. These included the Asiatic Lions that happen to be the biggest attraction of the zoo. The visit to this place can be educational, fascinating, adventurous and soothing at the same time. This is what makes it one of the most visited tourist spot in the whole city.

After spending my whole day at the Sayaji Baug Vadodara and admiring the man’s touch to project the beauty and serenity of the nature, I did not actually feel tired. I felt relaxed and refreshed. Such was the effect of this beautiful park and everything it had to offer. This place is a must-visit place for every Baroda visitor. Sadly enough our tour was to end for we had the next mighty Maharaja Sayaji Rao University to visit.
